Our philosophy

Think before you build.

Most organisations do not have a marketing problem. They have a leadership, strategy, process, communication or capability problem. Marketing simply exposes whatever already exists. If the organisation is strong, marketing accelerates growth. If it is weak, marketing accelerates disappointment.
01Consulting principles

Ten principles, applied in this order.

01Understand before advising
02Diagnose before designing
03Measure before changing
04Simplify before adding technology
05Build capability before dependency
06Use AI to augment people, not replace judgement
07Document every decision
08Leave every client stronger than you found them
09Protect confidentiality and act ethically
10Continue learning and improving
The one that costs us money
Build capability before dependency. The purpose of the handover pack, the training record and the Academy is to reduce what a client needs to buy from us. Firms that create dependency get renewed until the client resents them. Firms that create capability get recommended.
02The seven questions

Asked at the start of every engagement. Answered in writing before a solution is proposed.

  1. 01
    What problem are we solving?
  2. 02
    Why does it exist?
  3. 03
    What evidence supports our diagnosis?
  4. 04
    What options exist?
  5. 05
Which option delivers the greatest long-term value?
  6. 06
    How will success be measured?
  7. 07
How will the client sustain the improvement?
Why in writing
A question answered in conversation is answered differently by each person who remembers it. A question answered in writing is a document both parties can be held to at closure.
03The decision framework

Every recommendation is tested against six questions before it reaches a client.

If several answers are no, the solution is redesigned rather than defended.
01

Strategic value

Does this contribute to long-term objectives?

02

Client value

Does this solve an important problem?

03

Financial value

Will this produce measurable value?

04

Operational value

Will it simplify operations?

05

Human value

Will people actually use it?

06

Sustainability

Can the organisation maintain it independently?

04Client benefits

What an organisation receives, beyond the deliverable it commissioned.

01

A diagnosis, not an assumption

A useful discovery produces at least one finding the client did not already know, and states the evidence for it. Findings are organised by the diagnostic hierarchy, root causes are separated from symptoms, the risks of doing nothing are stated in the client’s own operational and financial terms, and the recommendation is a decision rather than a menu.

02

Budget certainty

Fixed price is the default. Every proposal states deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, the payment schedule and a validity period. Scope changes are priced and signed before work proceeds, so the invoice at closure matches the number the client approved at the start.

03

Measures the organisation agreed to

Success measures are specific, sourced and dated, agreed at the Define stage and reported against on a fixed rhythm. The client is never asked at the end to accept a new definition of success.

04

Ownership and independence

Domains, hosting and accounts are registered in the client’s name with the client as account holder. Every account created is listed in the handover register. The handover pack is issued on or before the day of launch.

The handover pack: eight sections

SectionContents
SummaryWhat was asked, what was delivered, what the measures show, what we recommend next.
AssetsFinal files in editable and export formats, brand assets, image licences, fonts and licence terms.
Access and credentialsA register of every account created, in whose name, and the transfer method used. Credentials are never sent in the body of an email.
DocumentationHow the solution works, how to update it, what to avoid, and known limitations.
GovernanceWho owns what after handover, the review cadence and escalation contacts.
Training recordWho was trained, on what, when, and the material used.
Technical annexureHosting, domain, DNS, platform versions, integrations, backup arrangement and renewal dates.
MeasurementBaselines, current figures and dashboard access.
05Evidence

Every claim on this website has a document behind it.

Ask for any of these and you will receive the document rather than an assurance.
ClaimWhat can be produced on request
We diagnose before designingThe Discovery and Diagnostic Protocol: interview structure, six audit types, and the nine-dimension GoTo360™ scoring guide.
We control qualityA four-level review standard. Nothing leaves the firm on the strength of the person who made it.
We control scope and costA gated engagement procedure with a one-page change order signed before any additional work is performed.
We transfer knowledgeA handover and knowledge transfer standard specifying eight sections of content.
We protect informationA POPIA and data protection policy covering both responsible party and operator roles, with a named Information Officer.
We can transact with institutionsA public sector compliance pack maintained continuously rather than assembled when a bid appears.
06The value ladder

Clients enter at the level of readiness they are at, and move upward.

No client is asked to buy the top of the ladder before the diagnosis justifies it.
01Free resourcesResearch, guides and methodologies published in the Research Centre.
02Diagnostic assessmentGoTo360™ or a focused audit. Priced separately, stoppable.
03StrategyA roadmap with named success measures at 90 days, one year and three years.

05Managed servicesRetained capacity: fractional CMO, CCO or AI adviser.
06Executive advisoryStanding counsel at leadership level.
07The GoTo flywheel

Each successful engagement generates evidence, content, referrals and new opportunities.

  1. 01
    Research
Published with a stated method and sample.
  2. 02
    Thought leadership
The research becomes an argument worth reading.
  3. 03
    Brand visibility
Authority in the priority markets, not general awareness.
  4. 04
    Leads
Enquiries from buyers who already accept the premise.
  5. 05
    Discovery
A structured session producing a written problem statement.
  6. 06
    Consulting and implementation
The engagement, run through the operating system.
  7. 07
    Results
Measured against the baseline agreed at Define.
  8. 08
    Case studies and referrals
Evidence, requested while goodwill is highest.
Research feeds thought leadership, which builds brand visibility, which generates leads, which become discovery engagements, which become consulting and implementation work, which produces results, which produce case studies and referrals, which fund the next research.

Book a Discovery Session

The most useful first step is a discovery conversation.

A structured session that produces a written problem statement, whether or not it leads to an engagement. If the problem is not one we should be paid to solve, we will say so.

Enquiries acknowledged within one business day, always.
