AcademixStudio

The research record, presented properly.

An institutional staff page serves administration. It lists a job title, a department and a telephone number. It does not present a research record, and an academic whose record is under-represented has a reputation problem the institution shares.

01Audience

Academics are not institutions, and should not be sold to as though they were.

01

Academics

Lecturers, senior lecturers, associate professors and professors who need a profile that reflects the record.

02

Researchers

Research fellows and principal investigators presenting active projects and outputs.

03

Research groups

Laboratories, centres and units that need one presence rather than five personal pages.

04

Postgraduate students

Doctoral candidates preparing for the academic job market or funding applications.

05

Universities

Faculties and departments standardising a profile pattern rather than commissioning bespoke pages.

06

Knowledge professionals

Consultants, analysts and specialists whose credibility rests on a documented body of work.

02Services

Eleven things the studio makes.

01

Academic websites

A complete personal academic site: biography, teaching, research, publications, supervision availability, media and contact.

02

Research profile websites

Structured around active projects, funding, collaborators and outputs, for researchers whose work is the product.

03

Digital CVs

A maintained, linkable, current curriculum vitae that does not require a document attachment.

04

Personal academic brands

Positioning, naming, visual identity and message for an individual scholar or a research group.

05

Research repositories

Structured, searchable presentation of outputs, datasets, preprints and reports, with persistent linking.

06

Publications

A publication list that stays current automatically rather than through annual manual editing.

07

Conference pages

Event, programme, call for papers, registration and proceedings pages for academic conferences.

08

ORCID integration

Live connection to the ORCID record so the authoritative identifier drives the profile.

09

Google Scholar integration

Citation counts, indices and publication lists surfaced from Scholar, presented with the date they were retrieved.

10

Institutional branding

Alignment with institutional identity requirements where the profile must sit within a university brand system.

11

Academic SEO

Findability by name, research topic and collaboration interest, with structured data for scholarly work.

03Principles

Four commitments the studio makes.

01

The record leads

The profile is structured around the body of work, not the job title. Publications, projects and supervision come before the biography, because that is the order in which a funder, collaborator or prospective postgraduate reads.

02

Current without maintenance

ORCID and Google Scholar integration keep the publication list current. A profile that requires annual manual editing is a profile that will be two years out of date.

03

You own it

Domain and hosting are registered in your name with you as account holder. Every account created appears in the handover register. If you move institutions, the profile moves with you.

04

Accessible by default

WCAG 2.1 AA as a minimum, not as an upgrade. Your work should be readable by everyone who needs to read it, including on a screen reader and a throttled connection.

Why this exists
An institutional staff page serves administration. It lists a job title, a department and a telephone number. It does not present a research record, and an academic whose record is under-represented has a reputation problem the institution shares.
04Process

Four steps. Three to four weeks.

01

Record review

3 days

Your ORCID, Scholar profile, CV and existing pages, reviewed to establish what exists and what is missing.

02

Structure

3 days

The information architecture: what a funder, a collaborator and a prospective student each need to reach in under thirty seconds.

03

Design and build

2 weeks

Built on the studio design system, with ORCID and Scholar integration and academic structured data.

04

Handover

2 days

Editing training, ownership transfer, and a handover pack. You maintain it without us.

05Common questions

Asked by most academics before they commission.
