Small on purpose.
Senior throughout.
GoTo Communications is a consultancy based in Bloemfontein, Free State, working across South Africa. We keep the team small so that the person who diagnoses your problem is the person who builds the answer.
Where a project needs specialists we bring in named collaborators and tell you who they are.
Five commitments.
These are operational rather than aspirational. Each one has cost us work, which is how we know they are real.
Diagnosis before proposal
We will not quote a build before we understand the problem. If that means losing a fast brief to someone who will, we accept the loss.
No borrowed numbers
We do not present industry benchmarks as our results, and we do not invent figures to fill a case study. Anything unmeasured is described as unmeasured.
You own what we build
Files, accounts, domains and documentation are set up in your name. Our work should be portable away from us.
Restraint on AI
We decline high sensitivity applications, including predictive policing, biometric surveillance and automated decisions affecting individual rights.
Honest reporting
Reports include what did not work. A consultant who has never delivered bad news is either lucky or not telling you something.
The practice grew out of institutional work. Years spent inside a university communication function is a specific education: you learn that approval chains are not obstacles but accountability made visible, that a policy document reaches more people than a campaign, and that the fastest route is often the one that survives a committee.
That background shapes how we work with public and non-profit clients. We write for scrutiny. We assume documents will be read by someone looking for a mistake. We build things that a successor can maintain, because in institutions there is always a successor.
The second thread is applied AI. Not as a product line, but as a discipline for deciding which repetitive work can be safely removed and which cannot. The judgement matters more than the tooling, and the tooling changes every few months anyway.
